COSLA’s Health and Social Care Spokesperson, Cllr Paul Kelly, and the Minister for Social Care, Mental Wellbeing and Sport, Maree Todd MSP met with Chief Executives of local carer centres for a roundtable discussion on 13th March. Carer Centre Execs highlighted areas of good practice, including partnership working and digital innovation. There was a constructive discussion on the challenges for carers’ support, with partners agreeing to work together to find solutions.

Reflecting on the engagement, Cllr Kelly said:

“Local carer centres play a vital role in supporting young and adult carers in their communities. Today’s roundtable highlighted several areas of good practice and partnership working, as well as the significant pressures both carer centres and unpaid carers face. I am committed to working with local and national partners to improve outcomes for carers and to ensure our shared challenges are understood and addressed.”
