COSLA's Health and Social Care Spokesperson, Cllr Paul Kelly visited Dumfries today (1st November 2024) for a deep dive into population health work in Dumfries & Galloway. As part of the visit, Cllr Kelly met with volunteers at Summerhill Community Centre and watched a film produced by young people on experiences of child poverty.
Councillor Kelly said: “I was delighted to see firsthand how local organisations are working in partnership to address challenges and maximise opportunities in their communities by applying the principles of community wealth building. There is excellent work underway in Dumfries and Galloway focused on providing support in the community to those who need it most.
"The visit was also a valuable opportunity to strengthen joint working between COSLA and the Scottish Government on population health. These types of engagements are critical to improve how we work together to enable people to live healthy lives.”
