After a week of intense discussions between COSLA and Scottish Government, and with our Trade Unions, Council Leaders will meet this morning to consider the options for making a revised pay offer. By exploring every possible option, additional resource has been identified by Scottish Government that can be added to the 3.2% already offered by Local Government. Any decision by Leaders will be informed by the provision of this additional recurring money, the publicly stated expectations of our Trade Unions, ongoing affordability, and the need to protect essential local services.
COSLA’s Resources Spokespeople Cllr Hagmann said “We have worked quickly and constructively with Scottish Government to increase the funding available. The identification of this additional resource has been extremely challenging given the current financial context and has meant tough decisions in some key policy areas. We hope that an acceptable revised offer can be made as soon as possible.”
