Celebrating World Children’s Day

20th November 2024 marked World Children's Day. A COSLA Spokesperson said:

"Today is World Children’s Day, marking the 35th anniversary of the date that the UN adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).  On 16th July 2024 the UNCRC became incorporated into the law in Scotland.

"Local authorities are committed to ensuring that children’s rights are incorporated, meaningfully protected, and fulfilled.  World Children's Day gives us all an opportunity to reflect on the progress we have made since its incorporation and recommit to delivering lasting change for children and young people across the country."
