"COSLA welcomes the Period Products Act, which came into law in Scotland on Monday (15^th August). COSLA and our member councils have long supported the legislation, which acknowledges that period products are indeed a basic necessity.

With increasing financial pressures on households - especially lower income households - Scotland has taken a positive step today towards ensuring better equity of access to period products.

We would like to pay tribute to Scotland’s Councils, whose staff have already worked hard to provide millions of free period products to those who need them, and will continue to be at the forefront of distributing these essential products to those who need them in our communities"
