A COSLA Spokesperson said:

"Self-funding fees are agreed privately between an individual and the care home.

"It is right that individuals and their carers should be able to exercise choice and control over the service they receive and where they live.

"However we are aware this can lead to variation in how much people have to pay towards their care home placement.

"COSLA and Scottish Government are currently working with a range of partners across the system on a programme of reform, a fundamental consideration of this will be the future funding and charging models."
